Hallow ee nnnnn

Welcome to a truly unique kid's day.  Haahaaa hummm, kids of all ages.

My students enjoyed making cookies yesterday.  A pre-halloween treat...to get a jump start of sugar into them.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
1/4 c. butter
½ c. sugar
1 egg
½ c. pumpkin
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. ginger
¼ tsp. cloves
¼ tsp. allspice
¼   c. chocolate chips
½ c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
In your mixing bowl combine the margarine, sugar, and egg.  Beat well with the electric mixer.  Add pumpkin to this mixture.  Then add dry ingredients  - flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.  Then add chocolate chips and optional nuts.  Mix well.  Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees for  12- 15 min. or until done.  Cool and enjoy.

Students at my school are allowed costumes for today....ugh.  That does promote some extremes in behavior... so, hold onto your hats.

Hats and frogs.

Happy Halloween survival, Mary

  11. OH, now these are good! I made some once and was quite surprised at the combination but then again, what does NOT go with chocolate! MARY! YOU SURVIVED the boo hour in middle school! WHEW! I am so used to elementary that my first substitute job in a middle school two weeks ago startled me! Oh the sassiness of some of those kids! One kid told me he doesn't listen to substitutes because they don't make a lot of money so that means they are not valuable, so why should he listen to someone who is not valuable? WHOAH......he'll learn one day.

    HAVE A GREAT DAY! Anita

  27. MARY DARLIN'! Wooooooo those middle schoolers are in a league of their own, let me tell ya....or, you already know that! Coming from a French immersion school where the kids generally struggle to speak up in French and then going where they can say whatever they want is quite LE CHOC!!!!!!!!
